Standard or repair-size valve seat insert: what to specify

State whether you need a standard valve seat insert or a repair-size requirement, and provide the intended drawing and cylinder-head information. A worn seat or pocket measurement alone does not determine the nominal insert OD, required interference or an approved oversize.

1. Identify the application and position

Record the complete engine version and known OE or cylinder-head reference. Specify intake or exhaust, or mark the position unknown. Do not copy the specification of the opposite position simply because the engine model matches. Use the part's own reference and evidence for each line.

2. Label OD, ID and height

Record the outside diameter, inside diameter and height in millimetres. Add the working-face angle only when the relevant drawing or agreed specification supplies it, and retain the angle convention used there. Photograph steps, chamfers and other visible geometry; a photograph alone does not establish a precision angle or material.

3. Keep repair requirements separate from standard data

For a repair request, provide the head-pocket condition and measurement record to the responsible workshop or supplier for review. Identify the original specification if known. Request a drawing-based decision on the required insert and finished condition. Do not choose a universal oversize or interference figure from an unrelated engine example.

4. Agree material, inspection and sample acceptance

Ask the supplier to confirm material requirements, drawing revision, critical dimensions and the inspection evidence expected with the sample or batch. Record who approves the sample and what is being approved. A reference number, colour or general product photograph does not verify material grade, certification or suitability for all operating conditions.

5. Send a complete commercial enquiry

List quantity per reference, standard or repair requirement, drawing and inspection needs, packaging and destination. Keep machining instructions separate from the catalogue lookup. FarDrive coordinates authorized sales, technical questions, quotation and after-sales follow-up; the agreed order defines supply, responsibilities and commercial conditions.

Seven previously confirmed valve seat insert specifications

These existing records are selected by documented specification status, not search-volume or sales data. They include separate intake and exhaust references; they are not standard/oversize pairs. Confirm the exact engine version and each record's geometry before ordering. The photograph is a general seat insert sample image.
